Caldesmon HMW is the high molecular weight variant of Caldesmon. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified which are different in their electrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution. The h-caldesmon variant (120-150 kDa) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle whereas l-caldesmon (70-80 kDa) is found in non- muscle tissue and cells. Neither of the two variants has been detected in skeletal muscle. This MAb recognizes only the 150 kDa variant (h-caldesmon) in Western blots of human aortic media extracts and is unreactive with fibroblast extracts from cultivated human foreskin. Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction.Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF Dyes and other labels. New England Biolabs, Inc. Monarch® gDNA Nuclei Prep & Lysis Buffer Pack - 1 pack
The Monarch gDNA Nuclei Prep & Lysis Buffer Pack contains two lysis buffers used in the Monarch HMW DNA Extraction Kit for Cells & Blood. The Nuclei Prep Buffer is a mild lysis buffer used first to lyse the cell membrane and release the contents of the cytoplasm while the nuclei are kept intact. It is used pre-mixed with the RNase A enzyme included in the kit. After the RNA from the cytoplasm is digested by RNase A, the Nuclei Lysis Buffer, pre-mixed with the included Proteinase K, is used to lyse the nuclei and release the HMW genomic DNA. This 2-step lysis ensures that RNA in the cytoplasm is effectively degraded before the viscous genomic DNA from the nuclei is released. 20 ml of each buffer is included in this buffer pack. The Nuclei Prep Buffer is used chilled to 4°C, and it can be stored at 4°C for convenience if desired.

Norgen’s FFPE RNA/DNA Purification Plus Kit provides a rapid method for the sequential isolation and purification of total RNA (including microRNA) and genomic DNA from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. RNA and DNA are sequentially purified into separate fractions using this kit. The kit provides conditions that allow for the partial reversing of the formalin modifications, resulting in high quality and yield of RNA/DNA. The kit purifies all sizes of RNA, from large mRNA and ribosomal RNA down to microRNA (miRNA) and small interfering RNA (siRNA), depending on the age of the FFPE tissue as the degree of fragmentation of the RNA will increase over time. RNA is purified without using phenol or chloroform. Purified RNA is of the highest integrity and can be used in a number of downstream applications including real time PCR. Purified genomic DNA is also of the highest quality, and can be used in sequencing.
